FOUNDING Partner

James P. Patuto

James P. Patuto is a founding partner for the law firm of Galantucci & Patuto.  He is a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Law.  Mr. Patuto began practice as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, assigned to the Trial Section.  In 1972, Mr. Patuto transferred to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office as a trial assistant.  During his tenure with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office he handled major cases including trials involving homicide, death by auto, and child abuse.  Mr. Patuto was given the responsibility of liaison to the Narcotics Squad and presided over investigations and trials of serious drug cases.  He assisted in the foundation of the Bergen County Joint Narcotics Task Force.  After leaving the Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Patuto founded Galantucci & Patuto with his former trial partner, Robert L. Galantucci. 

In his years with the firm, Mr. Patuto has handled the defense of all types of criminal cases in both federal and state courts.  He has also handled serious and complex civil cases and has tried to conclusion cases involving wrongful death, automobile negligence, and medical malpractice.  Mr. Patuto also has an active practice defending members of law enforcement accused of civil rights violations in the Superior Court, Civil Division, and the United States District Court.  Like all members of the firm, Mr. Patuto is an assigned member of the New Jersey P.B.A. Legal Protection Plan.
